Hank Williams' inner turmoil was represented in the roughly hewn wooden slat backdrop and the planked deck. His poor country heritage can be seen throughout with props like the beatup, period gas pump. 

 

The lighting was often haunting. Lots of shadow play was reinforced by the footlights that assisted in recreating the Grand Ole Opry set.
