As Iago begins to taint Othello’s view, the world begins to decay into greens and teals.
Later we see the same colors as Othello accuses Desdemona.

The giant pillar, which dominates the space, forces all of the stage participants into the scale of chess pieces. The floor treatment also reflects this basic idea of confined areas and manipulated directional movement.
