We get the feel of the theatrical and absurd world of The Rivals from the moment we enter. We see the details of a real world blown up in scale to absurd proportions When the curtains are opened the full world of chaos begins. Revolving, traveling, rolling, pivoting, and tracking units barely miss each other as scene changes occur. The immediate hands on world of the characters is very realistic but through tight color control becomes a statement about the social standings of the characters. We see all of the scene changes occur and cringe at the chaos until all slows and the next scene begins.
